Why Trying Archery in Bali Was the Highlight of Our Family Adventure

One of our favourite things about living in Bali is that it constantly invites us to try new things. Some days it’s tasting a fruit we’ve never seen before at a local market, and other days it’s a new skill — like archery in the lush hills of Ubud. 🏹🌿 Fox had been talking about trying archery for a while, and when we found Bali International Archery, we knew it was the perfect chance to let him give it a go. It was about a 45-minute drive from Sanur, tucked away in a beautiful, peaceful spot surrounded by greenery — the kind of place that makes you want to slow down and just breathe. I booked our session easily via Instagram (gotta love Bali for that!), and it cost around $25AUD per person for a 90-minute session. They also offer family passes and kids’ classes, which is great if you’ve got a crew keen to get involved. From the moment Fox picked up the bow, it was all focus. There’s something really special about archery — it’s not just physical, it’s mental. It teaches patience, concentration, control, and confidence. For kids especially, it’s a beautiful blend of discipline and fun. Watching him go from hesitant to completely locked in was such a proud moment. He found his rhythm, adjusted his stance, listened to the instructor, and celebrated every little improvement. It reminded me how important it is to let our kids try different things — especially the ones that sit outside their normal routine. That’s how they grow, explore, and find the stuff that truly lights them up. So if you’re in Bali and want to mix it up from the usual beach and pool days, I can’t recommend this enough. It’s something unique, grounded in focus and tradition, and just plain fun. And if you ask Fox? He’s already planning his next bullseye. 🏹 HOT TIP - Bring cold drinks, it was super fun but super hot and sweaty work! 📍@baliinternationalarchery #BaliWithKids #TryingNewThings #UbudAdventures #ArcheryInBali #BaliActivities #FamilyTravel #HomeschoolMoments #ChadAndMiaOfficial #LetThemExplore #BaliInternationalArchery #LifeInBali #FoxFindsFocus

One of the most surprising (and memorable!) experiences we’ve had during our Bali adventures was trying out archery in the lush hills of Ubud — and it quickly became a family highlight. Living in Bali often means stepping into the unexpected, and when our son Fox started talking non-stop about archery, we knew it was time to give it a real shot. 🎯 Enter Bali International Archery — located just 45 minutes from Sanur, tucked in a serene pocket of greenery that immediately sets a peaceful tone. We booked easily via Instagram (so Bali, right?) and at around $25 AUD per person for a 90-minute session, it felt like great value. They also offer family passes and kids’ classes, which makes it even more accessible. From the moment Fox held the bow, something clicked. Archery isn’t just a physical skill — it’s all about stillness, control, and focus. Watching him go from unsure to absolutely dialed in, listening intently to the instructor and celebrating each small win, was incredibly rewarding. It’s these moments of trying something totally new that truly allow kids to grow and discover what they’re capable of. If you're planning a family trip to Bali and want something beyond the usual beach-and-breeze routine, this is a beautiful way to connect with nature and spark curiosity. Plus, it’s entirely doable — safe, friendly, and really fun for all ages. Just one hot tip: Bring cold drinks. It’s sweaty work under that tropical sun! ☀️💦 @baliinternationalarchery #BaliWithKids #ArcheryInUbud #FamilyFunInBali #LetThemExplore #LifeInBali #FoxFindsFocus #UbudAdventures #BaliActivities #ChadAndMiaOfficial #HomeschoolMoments
