We made our way from Sanur to Gianyar and were welcomed with cool drinks before heading down to our villa… and wow — next level!
Our backyard? Home to limas and exotic birds — just casually hanging out while we unpacked 😱💚
We spent the afternoon in the kitchen with the incredible chefs, learning to cook up some seriously delicious food before heading to the Cassowary Restaurant for a dreamy dinner and dessert.
After tucking the kids in, I found a torch in the cupboard and we ended the night with a game of backyard spotto with the animals — magical!

Our Bali family adventure kicked off in unforgettable style with a stay at Sanctoo Villas — a hidden gem nestled beside the Bali Zoo in Gianyar. After a scenic drive from Sanur, we were welcomed with refreshing drinks and warm Balinese hospitality before being guided to our private villa — and let’s just say, it blew us away!
Stepping into our lush backyard felt like entering our own personal wildlife sanctuary. With lemurs leaping through the trees and vibrant exotic birds chirping nearby, our kids were instantly enchanted (okay, so were we!). It’s not every day you unpack your suitcase while watching a toucan hop across your fence! 🐒🦜
Hungry after settling in, we joined the villa’s talented chefs for an interactive, hands-on Balinese cooking class. The aromas, the laughter, and the chance to learn traditional recipes as a family made this a true highlight. Later, we dined at the on-site Cassowary Restaurant — a stylish yet kid-friendly spot where every dish was a hit, especially dessert. 🍮✨
Once the kids were snuggled into bed, we discovered a torch tucked in the cupboard — and so began a magical game of backyard spotto. Tiptoeing through lush paths under the stars, spotting glowing eyes and curious critters, it was the perfect end to day one.
