Crafting Joy in Bali: A Family Moment with Yarn and Laughter

September 15, 2025

Craft in Bali has become a little healing moment for me. Watching Lola fall in love with crochet has been so inspiring – now I keep seeing little projects popping up all over our house. This week we whipped up this chunky hand-knitted bed runner in just an hour… and I’m secretly hoping it keeps Chad’s grubby feet off my white hand-made linen. Sometimes the simplest moments – yarn, laughter, and a little creativity – feel like the biggest wins. #BaliFamilyFinds #BaliWithKids #FamilyLifeInBali #CraftInBali #CrochetLove

There’s something about Bali that invites you to slow down. Maybe it’s the sound of the waves or the golden glow that spills into every corner of our villa, but lately, I’ve found that joy is hiding in the simplest things — like a ball of yarn and an afternoon on the terrace with my daughter.

Crafting in Bali has become a quiet kind of therapy for me. This week, we discovered hand knitting — no needles required, just fingers, chunky yarn, and lots of laughter. In under an hour, Lola and I created a soft bed runner that now stretches across our white linen sheets. (Added bonus: fingers crossed it keeps Chad’s sandy feet off my favorite textiles!).

Watching Lola fall in love with crochet has been magical — little projects keep appearing around the house: tiny coasters, braided bangles, and even outfits for her stuffed animals. It’s a joyful reminder that creativity doesn’t need a classroom, just a cozy space and an open mind.

If you're visiting Bali with kids, consider adding a family craft session into your itinerary. There are local studios offering workshops ranging from tie-dye to hand weaving. It’s a meaningful way to connect, learn about local traditions, and create something beautiful together — all while giving everyone a screen break.

Pro tip: Ubud is a haven for artisanal experiences, and many family-friendly cafes offer play areas and small craft corners so parents and kids can enjoy their own creative time.

Sometimes, it’s not the big adventures that leave the biggest impressions — it’s the moments filled with yarn, laughter, and love.
