Leading By Example: Creating a Fulfilling Family Life in Bali

As parents, we often feel the weight of responsibility when it comes to shaping the future of our children. But lately, we've realized that the best way to teach them is not just through words, but through actions—by leading by example. We’re not living the “traditional” life that many would expect. Instead of the usual 9-5 grind and the constant hustle of life admin, we’ve chosen a different path. One where we prioritise joy, connection, and living in the present moment. We want our kids to see that life can be more than just a checklist of responsibilities—it’s about making memories, embracing change, and doing what makes your heart happy. Moving to Bali was a big step for us, and it wasn’t about escaping the hustle, but about showing our children that you can create a life that reflects your values. We are teaching them that it's okay to follow your dreams, to live with purpose, and to take the time to truly appreciate what life has to offer. We spend our days exploring, learning new skills, connecting with others, and most importantly, being present with each other. We want our kids to understand that while life may not always follow a set plan, the beauty is in embracing the journey. There’s so much more to life than the conventional—so we’re showing them that happiness is found in the everyday moments, in the adventures, in the growth, and in the time spent together. Life doesn’t have to be about being bogged down by the “shoulds” and the “musts.” It can be about creating a life that brings us joy and that allows us to live authentically. This is the lesson we’re teaching our children: that the path may not always be clear, but when we lead with love, gratitude, and joy, it’s always worth it.
