Our First Family Day Out in Bali After Dengue: Sun, Smiles & Splashing at Grand Mirage Resort

After what felt like weeks of being cooped up and nursing Chad back to health after his bout with dengue, we finally made it out of the house for our first proper family outing — and wow, did it feel good. 💛 We were invited down to Grand Mirage Resort in Nusa Dua, and the timing couldn’t have been more perfect. Something simple and lighthearted — just what we needed. The drive from Sanur took about 1.5 hours (yep, Bali traffic can be a ride in itself 😂), and we booked a Gojek car for under $15 AUD for the whole journey. Not bad for a little Bali road trip! The resort is right on the beach and absolutely beautiful. The kids were in heaven discovering more pools to splash in, plus the ocean blow-up slide and floating trampoline? Instant favourites. 🌊💦 We wandered, explored, and eventually grabbed lunch at one of the restaurants onsite — relaxed, grateful, and just soaking in that first bit of fun family time in what felt like forever. Sometimes it’s not about doing something big — it’s just about getting out of the house, letting your kids laugh and run and swim, and remembering how good it feels to just be together. 🥹 Big thanks to Grand Mirage Resort for hosting us — the perfect first step back into the sunshine. @GrandMirageResort #BaliWithKids #BaliFamilyFinds #ChadAndMia #NusaDuaResort #FamilyLifeInBali #PostDengueRecovery #BaliResortDay #GrandMirageResort #BaliDays #TropicalFamilyFun

After weeks of rest and recovery following Chad’s bout with dengue fever, we finally emerged from our little cocoon — and it felt incredible. Our first family outing in what felt like forever led us to the stunning Grand Mirage Resort in Nusa Dua, and it couldn't have been more perfectly timed. ☀️

We caught a Gojek ride from Sanur, which cost just under $15 AUD for the 1.5-hour journey. Yes, Bali traffic can be its own mini-adventure 😅 but having the kids excited about the day ahead made it a breeze.

As soon as we arrived, it was all bright skies, turquoise waters, and happy squeals. The resort sits right on the beach, with family-friendly pools, an inflatable ocean slide, and a floating trampoline that our little ones couldn’t get enough of. From giggling splashes to sandy toes, it was the perfect low-key day to reset and reconnect.

We enjoyed a laid-back lunch at one of the resort’s restaurants and just soaked in the joy of being out together again. The laughter, the sun on our faces, and the kids’ pure excitement made it feel like we were finally out of the woods — and back to ourselves.

Tip for fellow families: If you're looking for a relaxed beach day that balances play and pampering, Grand Mirage is a solid pick. No overplanning, just pure tropical fun.

Massive thanks to @GrandMirageResort for hosting us — you gave us the gift of normalcy after a tough spell, and we’re so grateful. 💛

#BaliWithKids #NusaDuaResort #FamilyLifeInBali #PostDengueRecovery #GrandMirageResort #TropicalFamilyFun
