Why Sunday Mornings Together Matter: A Simple Family Ritual in Bali
Sunday morning coffee dates ☕️ We try to do this at least once a week... just us. Because one day the kids will be grown and gone… and we’ll still be here. Lucky for us, we actually kinda like each other 😄😂
There’s something magical about a quiet Sunday morning in Bali—the sun rising over the rice fields, the gentle hum of scooters in the distance, and the aroma of freshly brewed Bali coffee dancing through the air. For our family, it’s also the perfect moment to connect—just the two of us.
Each week, we carve out time for a simple ritual: a Sunday morning coffee date. No kids, no distractions. Just a quiet table at our favorite local café, a couple of iced lattes (or strong espressos!), and uninterrupted conversation. Living abroad with kids is a beautiful adventure, but it can also be chaotic. These peaceful moments help us stay grounded and connected.
In a place as vibrant and lively as Bali, it’s easy to get swept up in the whirlwind of daily life—school runs, grocery markets, work projects, surf lessons. But pausing to reconnect, even just for 30 minutes over coffee, helps us remember why we’re here. We chose this life together, and these little rituals keep us strong.
Families visiting or living in Bali don’t need grand gestures to feel close. In fact, it’s the simple routines—Saturday walks on the beach, Sunday morning coffees, market runs together—that build the most lasting memories.
So if you’re traveling through Bali with your partner and kids, take a cue from local expat families: find your own version of a Sunday ritual. Try a café in Ubud overlooking jungle views, or head to a quiet beach hut in Canggu for your morning brew. Because one day the kids will be grown, and it’ll just be the two of you again. And lucky for us, we actually kinda like each other. ☕️❤️
