Another Bali road trip for the books 🚗✨
This time from Sanur to Amed for a few days of R&R.
Day one was full of little moments we loved – passing streets lined with red and white flags getting ready for Independence Day, stopping at a quirky little spot for lunch, then back on the road until we finally rolled into Amed.
We checked into our Airbnb, unpacked, played then headed straight out for dinner where we watched the sun set behind the volcano 🌋 while the kids worked overtime to convince Chad we needed a puppy…
A slow start, a beautiful finish, and now we’re all ready for our first proper day exploring Amed tomorrow. 💛

Another Bali road trip for the books – this time, from Sanur to the serene shores of Amed, where laid-back vibes and volcano views await 🌋✨.
We hit the road with the whole crew, windows down, and tunes up. As we drove through charming villages dressed in red and white Independence Day flags, Bali’s spirit was on full display. A midday stop at Mahaganga Valley turned into a highlight – a quirky little eatery tucked among the hills, serving up delicious local flavors with a view to match. Perfect for hungry bellies big and small!
By late afternoon, we arrived in Amed, greeted by sea breezes and that unmistakable feeling of calm. After checking into our dreamy beachfront Airbnb (shoutout to @airbnb and @rumahpantaiamed), the kids ran off some road trip energy while we unpacked and settled in.
Dinner at Susie’s Café was the cherry on top – a cozy spot right along the shore with unbeatable views of Mount Agung glowing in the distance, wrapped in the soft hues of sunset. As we sipped fresh juices and sampled grilled fish, the kids, full of energy and ideas, did their best to convince Dad that a Bali puppy should come home with us (jury’s still out on that one!).
We’re keeping it intentionally slow this trip – savoring each moment, from scenic drives to family meals under the stars. Tomorrow promises snorkeling, local markets, and maybe even a dolphin sighting or two.
If you're planning a family road trip in Bali, Amed is a must-add to your itinerary. With coastal charm, kid-friendly activities, and volcano vibes, it’s the perfect blend of adventure and relaxation.
