From Treat Triggers to Food Freedom: A Personal Journey to Balance
There was a time when having sweet treats in the house felt impossible. If they were there, I’d eat them — all of them. No off switch, no middle ground, just all or nothing. But life has a way of teaching you things. Through surgery, therapy, and some pretty big lifestyle shifts, I’ve slowly learned where my limits are and how to honour them. These days, I can have a sweet treat in the house without it controlling me. I can taste it, enjoy a bite, and move on with my day without guilt or the urge to finish the whole thing. It’s not about willpower anymore, it’s about balance and self-trust. And honestly, it feels so freeing to be able to enjoy the fun stuff without it taking over. The best part? I actually get to enjoy it now. Not rushing, not hiding it, not feeling bad afterwards — just truly enjoying one sweet moment, and then moving on with life. So yes, there are sweet treats in our house now — and they’re just that, a treat. Not the enemy, not something I fear, just something I can enjoy in its place. A little bite of joy, and then I carry on. #HealthyMindset #FoodFreedom #BalanceNotRestriction #LifeAfterTherapy #SweetTreats #MindfulEating #LifestyleChanges #RecoveryJourney #FoodFreedomJourney #BalancedLiving
