Creating Jewellery in Bali: A Personal Journey in Craft and Culture

February 3, 2026

I haven’t really shared this yet, but I’ve been quietly making earrings and ear spikes here in Bali with some incredible local jewellers. No rush, no pressure. Just creating something I really love. I’ll share more when it feels right.

Sometimes the most meaningful memories from travel aren't found in tourist hotspots—they're found in quiet moments of discovery. While exploring Bali with my family, I stumbled upon something unexpected: a passion for creating handmade jewellery.

I haven't really shared this before, but over the past few weeks, I've been working alongside some incredibly talented local jewellers here in Bali, learning how to craft earrings and delicate ear spikes. There was no strict agenda or deadline—just a peaceful, creative process guided by patience, tradition, and artistry.

What started as a spontaneous idea turned into a beautiful cultural experience. In workshops tucked between rice fields and temples, I learned about Balinese silverworking techniques passed down through generations. The rhythm of hand-hammering metal became meditative, a daily retreat from the bustle of travel. These artisans welcomed me with warmth, generously sharing stories, tools, and time.

For families visiting Bali, consider setting aside a day to explore this quieter side of the island. Many local studios offer hands-on jewellery-making classes suitable for both adults and older kids. Not only is it a fun, engaging activity, but it also provides a deeper connection with Balinese culture—a chance to meet locals, learn traditional crafts, and even take home a handmade keepsake more personal than any souvenir shop trinket.

For now, my creations are just for me. I’m enjoying the slow art of making—without pressure, just pure joy. And maybe, in time, I'll share more. But for anyone craving an authentic, enriching travel memory, crafting jewellery in Bali might be your next unexpected adventure.
