That Time We Rushed Our Tortoise to a Bali Vet (And Learned a Lot!)

When you think of family adventures in Bali, a surprise vet visit might not top the list—but life with pets always keeps you on your toes! Our tortoise, Leaf, gave us quite the scare when he suddenly stopped opening his eyes. Fearing the worst, we headed to @baliveterinaryclinic in Sanur. The incredible team at BVC quickly sprang into action. Turns out, Leaf had gone a little overboard with all his dirt digging fun and ended up with soil stuck in his eyes. Nothing a gentle cleaning couldn't fix! We brought Twig, his tortoise sibling, along for a check-up too—because good shellmates look out for each other. The vet gave us great advice about boosting their nutrition with Vitamin A to support eye health and overall wellbeing. Who knew tortoise eye care could be so specific? I even learned how to syringe feed a tortoise—definitely not a skill I expected to pick up in Bali, but here we are!
