Living in Bali for the past 1.5 years has reshaped our family in the most unexpected—and heartwarming—ways. One of the most surprising habits? Our kids now instinctively drop into a perfect Asian Squat anytime something hits the ground. Shoes, snacks, curious puppies... no bending at the waist here. It’s second nature now, and honestly, it’s adorable.
It’s these little moments that remind us how deeply this island has become our home. This isn’t just travel—it’s a full embrace of island life, and our kids have led the way. From understanding barefoot temple etiquette to greeting locals with a heartfelt “om swastiastu,” they’ve adapted not out of obligation, but from immersion. It’s a beautiful blend of respect, curiosity, and childhood freedom.
Bali is an incredible place to raise kids. Life here moves at a different pace—sun-soaked mornings, nature-based learning, and a strong sense of community shape their world. They swim more than they scroll. They point out offerings on sidewalks. They ask questions about ceremonies and run barefoot through rice fields.
The Asian Squat might be funny at first glance, but it symbolizes something so much bigger: adaptability, cultural integration, and a sense of belonging. These aren’t things we taught them intentionally—they’ve absorbed it through living.
So if you're a family dreaming about making Bali your base (even just for a while), know this: it's the small shifts that leave the biggest mark. Your kids will surprise you in the best ways. And along the way, Bali just might become home—for all of you. ❤️
