My health journey in Bali took an exciting turn this week during a follow-up visit at BIH (Bali International Hospital). After a series of diagnostic tests—checking everything from hormone levels to vitamin and mineral balances—I finally have a clearer picture of what’s going on as I navigate perimenopause.

If you're unfamiliar, perimenopause is the transitional phase before menopause, and it can come with a rollercoaster of symptoms—fatigue, mood shifts, irregular cycles. It’s different for everyone, but one thing’s for sure: having a supportive medical team makes a world of difference. That’s exactly what I found here in Bali.

Based on my results, the doctors at BIH and I are now considering Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) as part of my personalized treatment plan. We’re waiting for my cycle to begin before moving forward, but for now, I’m feeling optimistic, informed, and incredibly supported.

What stands out about managing my health in Bali is the holistic and integrative approach. From functional medicine to tailored wellness plans, the care here gives me confidence in choosing this island as home for this season of life. Plus, for families considering a move or an extended stay, Bali has a lot to offer—health-focused clinics, fresh organic food, and a lifestyle that naturally promotes balance and well-being.

So to anyone wondering if you can manage something as personal and complex as perimenopause while living abroad: yes, you absolutely can. Bali’s not just a paradise for the soul, it might also be a healing sanctuary for the body.

Follow along as I continue this next chapter. I’ll be sharing more about my experience with HRT and what life looks like as I embrace wellness on this beautiful island.
