A Homeschool Morning Adventure with a Rescued Bird in Bali

May 28, 2026

Just a normal homeschool morning in Bali… plus one rescued baby bird named Kevin 🥹🕊️ This morning Lola found a tiny zebra dove all alone on the ground, so naturally school got interrupted while we figured out what to do 😂🤍 We kept him safe in a little box while keeping an eye out for his parents nearby 👀 And somehow… after a few very emotional hours and a LOT of checking on him 😅Kevin made it back to his family 🥹✨ We also ended up learning all about zebra doves along the way — what they eat, how they live, how fledglings learn to fly, and so much more. It honestly turned into a whole extra homeschool lesson we weren’t expecting 🤍🌿 Honestly one of those tiny little moments that completely made our day 🌴🤍

On an otherwise typical homeschool morning in Bali, our lesson took an unexpected heartwarming turn with the arrival of a special guest—Kevin, a tiny zebra dove in need of a helping hand. 🕊️🥹 Lola, our young explorer, discovered him alone on the ground, and instantly our school lessons paused for an impromptu rescue mission. 🤍 With gentle care, we safely nestled Kevin into a cozy little box, all while scanning the skies for his missing parents. Our vigilance paid off as, after a few emotional and anxiety-filled hours (with lots of checking on our new feathery friend 🐦), we finally witnessed his joyful reunion with his family. The little dove’s return to the wild was not only uplifting but also unexpectedly educational. 🌿✨ In our quest to assist Kevin, we stumbled upon an impromptu nature lesson. We delved into the life and habits of zebra doves, uncovering fascinating facts about their diet and flight training. How fledglings learn to fly was a particularly intriguing topic for Lola—turning our morning into an engaging homeschool session that neither of us had anticipated. This delightful detour from our planned curriculum was more than just an adventure of compassion; it exemplified the essence of learning—curiosity, connectivity, and compassion. For families visiting Bali, such serendipitous moments beckon from every corner, inviting you to explore Bali not just as a place, but as an experience thriving with life and wonder. 🌴🤍 Every small moment like this enriches our journey, reminding us that adventure often unfolds in the most unexpected ways. If you're planning a family trip to Bali, keep your eyes open; you never know what tiny miracle might flutter your way. 🤍👀
