Tell me that every family knows what 3 hand squeezes mean?!?! 🤝🤝🤝 This is our homeschooling term 2, week 4 science class! We are learning about different energy sources, so a solar powered oven to make smores is perfect 👌🏼 we are following an australian based queensland curriculum and the kids are loving it- we as parents love it too! Its wednesday and our “school week” work is done! #homeschool #bali #homeschooling #sanur #scienceexperiments #solarpower #smores
Homeschooling in Bali offers endless opportunities to blend outdoor fun with hands-on learning, and this week, our little scientists are diving into solar energy with an irresistibly tasty project—solar-powered s'mores! 🌞🍫 Crackers, chocolate, and marshmallows have never been more educational.
For Week 4 of our science curriculum, aligned with the Queensland framework, we focused on renewable energy sources. What better way to demonstrate solar power than building a solar oven to harness that tropical Bali sunshine? Using just a pizza box, foil, cling wrap, black construction paper, and a thermometer, the kids constructed their mini “ovens” while learning how sunlight can be absorbed, reflected, and converted into heat. The payoff? Gooey, melted s'mores that made science even sweeter. 😋
Homeschooling here is a family affair, and we’ve got our own playful traditions to keep things special. For instance, we use “three hand squeezes” 🤝🤝🤝 as a little code for encouragement—it’s something every family should try! These moments, whether sharing high-fives or taste-testing marshmallows, make learning so much more meaningful.
Since Wednesdays are our "wrap-up" days, it's rewarding to see our kids finish their schoolwork, then dive into creative experiments like this. Parents, if you're in Bali (especially around serene Sanur), this is a reminder that homeschooling can be as enriching for you as it is for your kids. 🌴💡 Whether you're full-time roadschoolers or just exploring possibilities while traveling, science projects like this keep curiosity alive and make travel-based learning unforgettable.
So the next time you’re in paradise with a homeschooling agenda, give solar s’mores a try. You’ll not only teach your kids the value of renewable energy but also create memories as sweet as the treats themselves. Happy experimenting!
