Discovering Pemuteran's Underwater Biorock Wonders in Bali
One of the most fascinating places we've visited in Bali ๐๐ These are the Biorock structures in Pemuteran, home to one of the world's largest coral reef restoration projects ๐ What looks like underwater sculptures is actually helping create new coral growth and provide habitat for marine life ๐ค The structures are made from steel and use a very low electrical current which encourages coral to grow faster and stronger than it naturally would. The project began in Pemuteran in the early 2000s and has since become a global example of how damaged reefs can be restored through community-led conservation ๐ดโจ Today, the area is home to thriving coral gardens, colourful fish and some incredible snorkelling opportunities. It's a beautiful reminder that tourism and conservation can work together when local communities, scientists and visitors all play a role in protecting these special places. If you're exploring West Bali, Pemuteran is absolutely worth adding to your itinerary ๐๐ค ๐ฅ Want to see these incredible underwater structures for yourself? Check out our full YouTube video where we snorkel through the Biorock project and show the coral, fish and sculptures beneath the surface ๐๐ ๐ โ Planning your Bali trip?
