When the Dry Season Isn’t So Dry: Our Bali Bathroom Waterfall Adventure

Loading video player...

This past week has been anything but dry — we’re talking unseasonal rain, street floods, soggy laundry, and now… a bathroom with its very own roof waterfall feature 😅💦 It’s all fun and games until the indoor shower turns into a full-blown flood risk. Send towels. And snacks. #BaliWeather #BaliDrySeason #ButMakeItRain #OnlyInBali #BaliLifeUnfiltered #BaliRainySeason #ExpatsInBali #BaliProblems #RoofWaterfallVibes #FloodWatch2025 #BaliWithKids

Bali’s dry season is supposed to mean sunshine, sunscreen, and maybe a refreshing breeze or two — not puddles in your flip-flops and ceiling leaks worthy of their own resort brochure. But this past week? Let’s just say Mother Nature had different plans. It started with a drizzle and ended with what can only be described as our bathroom’s unexpected new feature: a cascading roof waterfall that turned our morning routine into an aquatic adventure. Picture stepping into the bathroom only to discover it's now doubling as an indoor rainforest — minus the zen soundtrack and with a very real risk of soaked socks. Apparently, Bali’s "dry" season isn’t a guarantee, especially in transitional months like May and October. Blame climate change or just the island’s quirky moods, but it’s a good reminder to pack more than one pair of quick-dry shorts and always — always — keep an extra towel (or five) on hand. So, what’s a traveling family to do? Embrace it! We turned laundry day into a barefoot puddle-jumping competition and used the downtime to explore Bali’s awesome indoor attractions (hello, cafés with epic play areas and smoothie bowls that made us forget the soggy socks). Tip for fellow wanderers: Check the local forecast even during the dry season, bring lightweight rain gear, and consider accommodations with good drainage (seriously). Because when your bathroom turns into a waterfall feature, it’s better to laugh about it — preferably somewhere dry, snack in hand. Bali is beautiful, unpredictable, and a little wild — just the way we like it.
