Day 3 of Our Bali Road Trip: From Amed to Kintamani with Garden Views & Hot Springs

Throwback road trip – Day 3 🚗🌋 From Amed to Kintamani. We started early at Tirta Gangga to feed the fish and explore the gardens, then Google Maps sent us on a very adventurous mountain route 😅 We turned around, took the scenic way instead, and arrived in Kintamani just in time for a hot spring soak, cooler air, and an early night. Ready for a big day tomorrow.

🚗 Day 3 of our Bali family road trip was a perfect mix of cultural charm and natural beauty, taking us from the quiet coastal town of Amed to the cool mountain air of Kintamani. We started the day early with a visit to the stunning Tirta Gangga Water Palace. The kids were thrilled to feed the koi fish while we soaked in the peaceful energy of the manicured gardens and elegant stonework—definitely a must-see for families! Afterwards, we set off toward Kintamani. Google Maps originally took us on what felt more like a hiking trail than a road—full of steep inclines and tight curves. With some laughter and a bit of backtracking, we opted for the more scenic (and less heart-racing) route through lush rice terraces and local villages. By late afternoon, we reached Kintamani and were immediately welcomed by the cooler mountain breeze. We headed straight to one of the area’s famous hot springs overlooking Lake Batur. Imagine soaking in warm volcanic water while gazing out at Bali’s iconic volcano—pure magic! It was the perfect way to relax after hours on the road. For traveling families, this day is a great balance of adventure, sightseeing, and downtime. Tirta Gangga offers a gentle cultural immersion, and the drive—while eventful—is full of breathtaking views. Kintamani rewards you with its laid-back vibe and rejuvenating springs. We wrapped up the day with a quiet dinner and an early night, gearing up for another big day ahead. If you're planning a road trip in Bali with kids, this leg of the journey is a highlight not to be missed!
