Bali Road Trip Day 2: From Candi Dasa to Amed with a Blue Lagoon Swim & Oceanfront Snorkelling

Day 2 of our Bali road trip 🚗🌊 We left Candi Dasa, stopped in at the Blue Lagoon for a swim, then continued around to Amed — finishing the day with snorkelling straight out the front of our accommodation. One of those pinch me Bali days.

Day 2 of our family-friendly Bali road trip kicked off in the peaceful seaside town of Candi Dasa. After a relaxed breakfast with ocean views, we packed our swimsuits and hit the road, heading toward the vibrant coast of Padangbai — home to the stunning Blue Lagoon. Just a short drive away, the Blue Lagoon is a dreamy cove with soft white sand and turquoise waters, perfect for a family swim. The calm surf and shallow entry make it an ideal spot for little ones to splash safely, while snorkelers can spot bright fish just a few meters from shore. Pro tip: arrive early to beat the crowds and enjoy the serene morning light! After drying off and grabbing a refreshing coconut from a beachside warung, we continued our drive along the scenic coastline toward Amed. This stretch of road invites plenty of photo stops — think clifftop ocean views and glimpses of Mount Agung peeking through the clouds. Arriving in Amed by mid-afternoon, we settled into our oceanfront accommodation and were thrilled to find a coral reef just steps from our door. Snorkelling here was a family highlight — crystal-clear water, an array of colorful fish, and even a glimpse of a sea turtle! No boat trips or long walks required — just walk in and swim out. For families doing a Bali road trip, this day offers the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation. Blue Lagoon and Amed are both easy to reach and rich in natural beauty. Don’t forget sunscreen, snorkels, and fully charged cameras — Day 2 is filled with unforgettable moments you’ll want to capture and share!
