Celebrating 18 Years of Parenting and Bali Adventures

**Eighteen years of parenting – a journey filled with love, lessons, and, let’s be honest, a few sleepless nights – culminated in Bali, where we celebrated our son Jed officially stepping into adulthood. Talk about a milestone!** It wasn’t all picture-perfect postcard moments, though. Jed kicked off his 18th birthday battling the infamous ‘Bali belly.’ Not exactly what we had planned, but hey, it made for a birthday he’ll never forget (for better or worse!). While he rested and recovered, Chad and I found ourselves reflecting on our own journey – celebrating not just Jed’s milestone but the fact that we’ve navigated 18 years of parenting and all the beautiful chaos that comes with it. Once Jed felt better, we made up for lost time. Our day started with a traditional Balinese blessing ceremony. If you’re visiting Bali with family, trust us, this is a must. Seeing Jed take part in such a unique cultural experience felt incredibly symbolic as he stepped into this new phase of life. Next up, a feast fit for an 18-year-old! Bali is a foodie’s paradise, with everything from decadent tropical smoothie bowls to mouthwatering Babi Guling (suckling pig). We opted for a dinner at a beachfront warung in Jimbaran Bay while watching the sunset light up the horizon. Here’s a tip: definitely book ahead as these spots fill up fast! The day ended with laughter, stories, and a shared sense of gratitude – for Jed, for Bali’s warmth, and for the uncharted adventures ahead.
