From Crazy Idea to Family Life in Bali: Our Biggest Leap Yet

Crazy ideas are only crazy when you don’t act on them. Sometimes they’re just the leap you’re meant to trust. We sold everything and wanted a big change — something different, but still close enough to home to feel connected. Bali felt huge before we moved… and honestly, it still does in some ways. But after two years, it’s starting to feel like home. Not because it’s small or easy — but because it’s grown us in ways we never expected. We’re so thankful for this life, this adventure, and the version of ourselves it’s created 🤍

Crazy ideas are only crazy until you decide to act on them. For our family, the leap to leave everything behind and start a new chapter in Bali was just that — wild, uncertain, and completely life-changing.

We sold it all — the house, the furniture, even the kitchen mixer — chasing a feeling that there had to be more than the hustle we’d come to accept as normal. Bali wasn’t about escaping; it was about rediscovering what life could look like with intention.

At first, Bali felt massive, unfamiliar, and chaotic — a sensory overload of scooters, spices, and smiles. But as the weeks turned into months, the rhythm of daily life began to settle. Our kids found joy in barefoot mornings and school days filled with creativity instead of tests. We swapped drive-thru dinners for sunset beach picnics and made friends from every corner of the globe.

It wasn’t always easy. There were language mix-ups, cultural misunderstandings, and days when we deeply missed home. But through those growing pains came the transformation we didn’t expect — a shift in values, priorities, and how we define ‘home.’

Now, two years in, Bali feels less like a wild dream and more like a well-worn path we’re still exploring. The island has expanded our hearts and reshaped our lives in the most beautiful ways.

To families considering a similar leap: don’t wait for everything to make sense. Sometimes, the leap itself is how it all starts to come together.

Thinking about making Bali your next chapter? Reach out — we’re happy to share what we’ve learned about schools, neighborhoods, and how to make this dream a reality for your family.
