**Day 1: Our Self-Drive Adventure Around Bali Begins!** Can you really drive all the way around Bali? Challenge accepted! Today marks the beginning of our exciting self-drive road trip, trading the laid-back vibes of Sanur for the more adventurous East Coast. With a rental car packed with snacks, sunscreen, and a playlist of tropical tunes, we hit the road, ready to explore Bali at our own pace. First stop: Sukawati Art Market. Just a short drive from Sanur, it’s the perfect place to pick up locally-made souvenirs or try a delicious Balinese pastry. Kids will love the colorful stalls selling everything from traditional masks to quirky wooden toys! From there, we continued along the scenic eastward route, flanked by lush rice terraces on one side and glimpses of the turquoise sea on the other. Bali’s roads are surprisingly family-friendly, and our little ones couldn’t stop pointing at the palm trees dotted with playful monkeys. As we approached Candidasa, we made a quick detour to the Goa Lawah Temple, also known as the Bat Cave Temple. This fascinating, centuries-old sanctuary housed thousands of bats and was a hit with the kids – perfect for sparking their curiosity about Balinese culture. Finally, we arrived in Candidasa just in time to witness a breathtaking sunset over its tranquil bay. With its laid-back charm and family-friendly resorts, we knew we’d picked the right place to rest and recharge. Day 1 of our Bali road trip couldn’t have gone better.
