So when we were staying at Sanctoo Villas, we jumped at the chance to join their Balinese cooking class, and it did not disappoint! The first thing that hits you is the flavour — bold, aromatic, and totally unforgettable. Then, as we cooked alongside the talented chef and his team, I started to notice how simple the ingredients were. Garlic, shallots, galangal, turmeric, lemongrass… many of the same base ingredients are used across a variety of dishes, each one layered and built in a way that creates something so uniquely delicious. It was such a joy to learn hands-on — slicing, blending, cooking — all while the kids got involved too. A true family experience ❤️ And the best part? We came away with a recipe book full of traditional dishes so we can recreate the magic back home! A special moment I want to share: one of our kids has a shellfish allergy (discovered after enjoying seafood here in Bali — but that’s a whole other story for another day 😅), so we were super grateful to have our BFF Allergy Card on hand. We gave it to the team before the class and they were so thoughtful and accommodating. One of the highlights of our Bali trip was a hands-on Balinese cooking class at the serene Sanctoo Villas 🍃. Tucked away in lush greenery, this culinary experience gave our family the perfect mix of cultural immersion and delicious fun.
