My Unexpected Love for Bearded Dragons in Bali š¦

Bearded dragon time š¦ Calm, curious, and way cooler than I expected. Not going to lie⦠I think Iām officially converted. š And... apparently you can train them to use a human toilet... š¤
I didnāt plan to fall head over heels for a bearded dragon in Bali, but here we are. One unexpected afternoon, my family and I stumbled upon a small pet sanctuary tucked away just beyond Ubudās lush rice fieldsāand thatās where the dragon magic happened. š¦
Bearded dragons are surprisingly chill. Calm, curious, and full of personality, theyāre the perfect introduction to reptiles for kids (and hesitant adults like me!). We spent nearly an hour with our new scaled friendsāstroking their surprisingly soft skin, watching them explore, and learning all sorts of mind-blowing facts.
Did you know bearded dragons can actually be trained to use a human toilet? That curious tidbit alone had the kids wide-eyed and giggling. Turns out, these gentle reptiles are both smarter and cleaner than I ever imagined.
For families exploring Bali, this is a must-add to your itinerary. Not only does it break up a day of temples and trekking, but it also sparks unexpected curiosityāin both little ones and grown-ups. It's a fun, hands-on way to connect with nature, and letās be honest: who doesnāt love the idea of holding their own tiny dragon?
Many of these small reptile encounters in Bali also support local conservation efforts, making it a meaningful outing too. Just be sure to choose ethical centers that prioritize animal welfare.
So yes, I went to Bali for the beaches and Bintang, but left with a soft spot for bearded dragons. And maybeājust maybeāI'm considering one as a future pet. (Toilet training included, of course.) š
