Finding Community in Bali: A Crochet Meet-Up to Remember
One of the things we’ve been most grateful for since moving to Bali is how many little communities have opened their arms to us – and the crochet community is one of the sweetest. Lola and I have always loved crochet, so when Christine, the lovely owner of Kyorochet, reached out to invite us to the very first crochet meet-up, we were so excited. Unfortunately, we couldn’t make that one – but there was no way we were missing the next! So, with Lola’s giant crochet bag in hand, we made our way into Denpasar for an afternoon filled with yarn, coffee, and new friends. The space was full of amazing local Balinese women, all with their “work in progress” pieces, chatting away over sweets and drinks while making the most incredible creations. There’s just something so special about sitting together, slowing down, and sharing a hobby – especially in a new place that already feels like home. It was a reminder of how hobbies can connect us across cultures, and I’m so glad Lola got to see and be part of that. If you’re in Bali and would love to learn crochet yourself, Christine is your girl! She offers personal lessons and is just as warm and welcoming as you’d imagine.
