๐๐ผ DID YOU KNOW BALI HAS A BUDDHIST MONASTERY? ๐ฎ๐ฉ While we were in Lovina, we visited Brahmavihara Arama, also known as the Banjar Buddhist Monastery, and it was such a beautiful and peaceful place to explore. Set in the hills of Banjar Tegeha in North Bali, this is the largest Buddhist monastery in Bali. The current monastery opened in 1971, although the Buddhist community here dates back to 1958. The grounds are made up of beautiful gardens, terraces, temples, statues and meditation spaces, with incredible views across the surrounding hills and northern coastline. One of the highlights is the miniature Borobudur, built in 1999 at the highest point of the grounds. I loved how the architecture brings together Balinese design elements and Buddhist symbolism, creating something that feels distinctly connected to Bali while being completely different from the Hindu temples you'll see across most of the island. A few helpful things to know if you visit: ๐ Banjar Tegeha, North Bali, near Lovina ๐ The monastery currently lists opening hours of 6am to 6pm daily ๐ Dress modestly with shoulders and knees covered ๐ง๐ผโโ๏ธ This is a working monastery, so keep voices low and be respectful around meditation and worship areas ๐งฃ Sarongs are available to borrow at the entrance ๐ธ Photography is allowed, but always be respectful of people practising or praying It's definitely worth adding to a North Bali road trip, especially if you're already visiting Lovina or Banjar. And honestly, it's another reminder that there's so much more to Bali than beaches. ๐ดโค๏ธ Have you visited Brahmavihara Arama? ๐๐ผ
