Every month, Tokopedia manages to convince me I need something I had absolutely no idea existed five minutes earlier. This month it was these periscope reading glasses. When they arrived, Chad looked at the box, looked at me wearing them and completely lost it. I don't think I've ever seen him laugh so hard over one of my online purchases. To be fair, I probably wasn't helping my case lying in bed looking like I was preparing for a covert operation. But here's the thing... they're actually brilliant. If you're wondering what they do, they're basically little mirrors that let you read while lying completely flat. Instead of propping yourself up with pillows or ending up with a sore neck from holding your book above your face, you can just lie there comfortably while the glasses do all the work. It sounded ridiculously unnecessary when I ordered them. Now I'm wondering why nobody told me about them years ago. I've realised that somewhere along the way I've reached that stage of life where practical gadgets genuinely excite me. Give me a kitchen appliance that saves me ten minutes, a storage container that actually stacks properly or a random little invention that makes reading in bed more comfortable, and I'm sold. The dangerous part is that Tokopedia knows exactly how my brain works. I open the app to buy one sensible thing, then twenty minutes later I'm checking out with something I never knew I needed. Most of the time Chad just shakes his head and asks, "What have you bought now?" Every now and then though... I get a win. I have a feeling these glasses are one of them. Now I'm curious... what's the most random thing you've bought online that made everyone laugh, only to become something you use all the time?
