Watching Lola on stage, we couldn’t help but smile (and maybe tear up a little). There she was—confident, joyful, and completely in her element, doing what she loves and owning it.
We are so unbelievably proud of her. Not just for the twirls and the timing (although she nailed those too), but for having the courage to put herself out there, try something new, and dance with her whole heart.
Since moving to Bali, she’s made new friends, embraced a new sport, and stepped into a space that lets her shine. And this performance was a beautiful reminder that the best kind of success comes when you stay true to you—when you dance to the beat of your own drum, no matter who's watching.

This week, that magic took center stage—literally—as we watched our daughter Lola perform in her first dance recital here.</p>
<p>Seeing Lola twirl across the stage, bursting with joy and confidence, reminded us of why we took this leap. She wasn’t just performing; she was thriving. Every beat of the music echoed a deeper rhythm—one of courage, self-expression, and the freedom that comes with embracing something new.</p>
<p>Since settling into our Bali life, Lola has made friends from all corners of the world, taken up new hobbies, and tapped into parts of herself we’d never seen before. Dance has become more than an after-school activity—it’s a mirror reflecting her spirit back at us. </p>
<p>As parents, there's nothing quite like watching your child find their passion overseas, especially in a place that celebrates creativity and community like Bali does. The island fosters a ‘why not?’ mindset that encourages kids (and grownups!) to step out of their comfort zone, try something different, and let their unique light shine.</p>
<p>So here’s to the Lolas of the world—dancing to their own beat, embracing the unknown, and teaching us that bravery often looks like a sparkly costume, a spotlight, and a beaming smile.
