Full Circle Moments: Family, Love, and Adventure in Indonesia

Standing here with Chad and knowing our kids were just off to the side, felt really full circle. This trip started as my 40th birthday adventure, but it turned into so much more than a milestone celebration. It became about doing life together. Exploring. Laughing. Learning. Letting the kids see the world beyond books and screens, and letting ourselves slow down enough to really take it all in. We’ve been together since 2003, longer together than we’ve ever been apart... and honestly, I wouldn’t want to experience any of this any other way. We’re best friends first, always. The kind who still choose each other, still have fun together, and still love doing life side by side. Borobudur has lived in my heart since I was young, but sharing it with him and with our kids made it something else entirely. This is the good stuff 🤍 #yogyakarta #Borobudur #javaindonesia

When I first planned this trip to Indonesia, it was meant to be a solo celebration — a 40th birthday adventure to mark a milestone year. But life has a beautiful way of surprising you. What began as a personal journey became a full family experience that deepened our connections and brought us closer together. Standing at the foot of Borobudur, hand in hand with Chad while our kids explored just steps away, I felt a powerful sense of full circle. We’ve been together since 2003, and in many ways, this trip reflected our entire journey — growing, learning, and always choosing each other. Traveling through Java, from the serenity of Borobudur to the vibrant streets of Yogyakarta, we traded screens for sunsets and routines for spontaneous laughter. We watched our children’s eyes light up with curiosity, discovering cultures they’d only read about. They tasted unfamiliar foods, snapped photos in endless rice fields, and asked questions that made us proud. This wasn’t just a vacation — it was a shared life chapter. Together, we soaked in the beauty of Indonesia, from temple sunrises to quiet beach evenings. We slowed down, looked up, and truly saw each other. If you're planning a family trip to Bali or beyond, let it be about more than ticking boxes. Let it be about connection. Let your kids see the world not just as tourists, but as learners. And most importantly, lean into the moment — because it’s these shared experiences that you’ll remember most. Indonesia gave us more than just scenery; it gave us space to grow together. This is the good stuff. 🤍 #Yogyakarta #Borobudur #JavaIndonesia #FamilyTravel #TravelWithKids
