Honoring Balinese Culture: A Heartfelt Galungan Celebration with Our Team

This week we put together Galungan hampers for our team, and even though not all of our staff are Hindu or celebrate Galungan, we felt it was really important to acknowledge such a big cultural moment here in Bali. Traditionally, a Galungan hamper might include things like: • fruit • cakes or jajan Bali • coffee and tea • cooking staples • small treats for the home • sometimes ceremonial ingredients or offerings Ours were a little different — more of a “snack hamper” — but filled with care and intention. We actually had a local company in Denpasar put them together for us, and they did such a beautiful job. For some of our staff, it was their first ever Galungan gift, which made it even more special. It was honestly a tricky balance: we never want anyone to feel left out, unseen or that we are only acknowledging one religion. But living here, being welcomed here, and working side by side with such a beautiful team… honouring big cultural celebrations feels important. And seeing everyone smile, laugh, compare snacks, and feel appreciated made our whole week. Happy Galungan to everyone celebrating, and to our team, thank you for everything you do. We are so grateful for you all. 🤍 @balifamilyfinds #Galungan #BaliCulture #BaliLife #ChadAndMia #BaliFamilyFinds #BalineseTradition #TeamAppreciation #LivingInBali

This week, our hearts were full as we embraced one of Bali’s most cherished cultural celebrations—Galungan. While not all of our team members are Hindu or traditionally celebrate the holiday, living and working in Bali means being deeply immersed in its vibrant customs and community spirit. Honoring Galungan felt not only right, but incredibly meaningful. To mark the occasion, we shared thoughtfully prepared Galungan hampers with our team. Traditionally, these bundles include fruit, homemade cakes (jajan Bali), coffee, tea, and ceremonial items. Ours were a modern twist—a snack hamper curated by a lovely local company in Denpasar, brimming with delicious treats and a whole lot of love. What made it extra special? For some of our team, it was their very first Galungan gift. Watching their joy, hearing laughter around the office, and seeing everyone swap snacks and stories was heartwarming. It reminded us that appreciation and acknowledgment can transcend religious or cultural lines. We’re always mindful to celebrate inclusively—it’s a delicate balance. But living in Bali comes with a beautiful responsibility to honor its traditions respectfully. Whether you're visiting as a family, settling in long-term, or simply looking to connect more deeply with the local culture, celebrating holidays like Galungan alongside your community is a wonderful way to do that. To our wonderful team: thank you for your kindness, hard work, and spirit. And to everyone celebrating—Selamat Hari Galungan! Embracing these moments reminds us that meaningful travel isn’t just about where you go, but how you connect. 🤍 #Galungan #BaliCulture #LivingInBali #BaliWithKids #CulturalRespect #BaliFamilyFinds #BaliTraditions #ExpatLifeBali #TeamAppreciation
