Why We Chose Homeschooling in Bali: A Family’s Journey

The Balinese culture has a deep respect for education. They believe in its power to provide a brighter future, with a focus on sending kids to university and giving them better opportunities than the previous generation. This mindset is rooted in the belief that education is the key to a successful future, and it’s something we’ve come to admire. There are many schooling options in Bali for expat families, from international schools offering curriculums like IB, British, or Australian systems, to local schools with a more traditional approach. But after considering all our options, we decided to homeschool our kids. Price was certainly a factor, but the flexibility to travel and explore Bali without the constraints of school schedules was equally appealing. Homeschooling gives us the freedom to design our own routine, learn from the island’s rich culture, and take family adventures without missing out on education. Whether it's exploring temples, hiking Mount Batur, or visiting local artisans, every experience becomes part of our kids' learning journey. Bali truly is an outdoor classroom, and we’re so grateful for the opportunity to immerse in it. This approach also allows us to travel freely, whether it’s heading to Ubud for a week or spending time on a remote beach. We’ve found that homeschooling in Bali fits our family life perfectly, offering the best of both worlds: a strong education and the chance to live life fully. While the Balinese community places a strong emphasis on traditional schooling, we’ve embraced the flexibility of homeschooling and it’s been one of the best decisions we’ve made as a family. #HomeschoolingInBali #BaliLife #ExpatLife #BaliEducation #FamilyAdventures #LivingInBali #HomeschoolingJourney #EducationInBali #TravelAndLearn #ExploreBali #FlexibleLearning #BalineseCulture #FamilyLifeAbroad #BaliLiving #InternationalSchooling
