Why We Chose Homeschooling in Bali: A Family’s Journey

Why We Chose Homeschooling in Bali: A Family’s Journey

The Balinese culture has a deep respect for education. They believe in its power to provide a brighter future, with a focus on sending kids to university and giving them better opportunities than the previous generation. This mindset is rooted in the belief that education is the key to a successful future, and it’s something we’ve come to admire. There are many schooling options in Bali for expat families, from international schools offering curriculums like IB, British, or Australian systems, to local schools with a more traditional approach. But after considering all our options, we decided to homeschool our kids. Price was certainly a factor, but the flexibility to travel and explore Bali without the constraints of school schedules was equally appealing. Homeschooling gives us the freedom to design our own routine, learn from the island’s rich culture, and take family adventures without missing out on education. Whether it's exploring temples, hiking Mount Batur, or visiting local artisans, every experience becomes part of our kids' learning journey. Bali truly is an outdoor classroom, and we’re so grateful for the opportunity to immerse in it. This approach also allows us to travel freely, whether it’s heading to Ubud for a week or spending time on a remote beach. We’ve found that homeschooling in Bali fits our family life perfectly, offering the best of both worlds: a strong education and the chance to live life fully. While the Balinese community places a strong emphasis on traditional schooling, we’ve embraced the flexibility of homeschooling and it’s been one of the best decisions we’ve made as a family. #HomeschoolingInBali #BaliLife #ExpatLife #BaliEducation #FamilyAdventures #LivingInBali #HomeschoolingJourney #EducationInBali #TravelAndLearn #ExploreBali #FlexibleLearning #BalineseCulture #FamilyLifeAbroad #BaliLiving #InternationalSchooling

**Why We Chose Homeschooling in Bali: A Family’s Journey** Bali’s deep-rooted respect for education is something we truly admire. The Balinese believe that learning is the key to a brighter future, and this cultural value is reflected in their commitment to schooling. From international institutions offering IB, British, or Australian curricula to traditional local schools, Bali provides plenty of options for expat families. Yet, after careful consideration, we chose to homeschool our children, and it has been one of the best decisions for our family. Cost was certainly a factor, but more than that, we longed for the flexibility to learn from real-world experiences. Bali, with its breathtaking landscapes and rich traditions, has become our outdoor classroom. Whether it’s exploring ancient temples, watching artisans craft intricate offerings, or hiking up Mount Batur for sunrise, each adventure deepens our children’s understanding of the world in a way no textbook ever could. Homeschooling allows us to create a routine that fits our family’s rhythm while embracing hands-on learning opportunities. It also means we can travel without being tied to a rigid school calendar. A week in Ubud, a quiet retreat on a remote beach, or a cultural immersion in a Balinese village—every journey adds to our curriculum. Despite the Balinese community’s strong emphasis on formal schooling, we’ve found that homeschooling aligns perfectly with our lifestyle. Our children receive a quality education while experiencing the freedom to learn through exploration, creativity, and cultural immersion. Living and learning in Bali has been an incredible journey, and we’re grateful for the endless opportunities this island provides. #HomeschoolingInBali #BaliEducation #FamilyAdventures #TravelAndLearn #ExpatLife #BaliLiving #FlexibleLearning
