Exploring Kintamani: The Perfect Family Day Trip from Sanur

A Day Trip to Kintamani ☕🌋⛰️ With Chad’s parents visiting, we wanted to show them a different side of Bali — the green hills, the cooler air, and the stunning views beyond the beach. A day trip to Kintamani from Sanur ticked all the boxes: relaxing, beautiful, and not too hard of a day for anyone. We booked a private Hiace van (totally worth it when traveling with a big crew — comfy, spacious, and air-conditioned), and left Sanur around 9am. With a couple of toilet stops (because family life 😂), we reached the Kintamani viewing point just after 11:30am. Yes — the views are incredible here. That panoramic view of Mount Batur and the crater lake is something else. But just a heads-up: you’ll likely be greeted by some very eager local sellers. They're just doing their thing, but it can feel a bit intense, so after a few quick snaps and smiles, we jumped back in the van and headed for lunch. Our stop? One of our faves — Paperhills Kintamani. The food and coffee here are always on point, and the view? Unmatched. It’s the kind of place where you sit, sip, and just soak it all in. Another great spot worth checking out is Montana Del Café — especially if you're into beautiful café aesthetics. Hot tip: pack a light jumper — it gets chilly up here, especially if you're used to Bali’s coastal heat. There are hot springs nearby if you're after a soak (great with teens or older kids!), but this time we planned a cultural stop on the way home instead. After one too many coffees and a very relaxed long lunch, we hit the road again — with one more surprise stop planned before heading back to Sanur. This kind of day is the perfect mix of scenery, slow travel, and memory-making, especially when sharing Bali with the people you love. #KintamaniDayTrip #FamilyInBali #BaliWithKids #ChadAndMiaOfficial #BaliViews #MountBatur #PaperhillsKintamani #BaliFamilyAdventure #ThingsToDoInBali #BaliWithGrandparents #SanurToKintamani #BaliDayTrips #BaliFamilyFinds

With family in town, we decided to take a break from beach days in Sanur and venture inland for a change of pace — destination: Kintamani. This scenic region offers cooler temperatures, lush landscapes, and jaw-dropping volcano views, making it an ideal day trip for all ages. We booked a private Hiace van (a total win when traveling with grandparents and kids) and hit the road around 9am. After a couple of giggle-filled toilet breaks, we made it to the Kintamani viewpoint just after 11:30am. The view? Absolutely worth the winding drive. Mount Batur, with its deep blue crater lake, stretched out in front of us like a postcard come to life. Just a heads-up: you’ll likely encounter a few persistent local vendors at the lookout. They're friendly and trying to make a living, but if you're not up for shopping, a quick smile and polite no thank you will do the trick. Next stop: lunch at Paperhills Kintamani. This café is one of our absolute favorites — think great coffee, hearty meals, and a panoramic view that keeps you lingering longer than planned. If you’re all about Instagrammable cafés, Montana Del Café just down the road is another gem. Pro tip: Pack a light jacket, especially if you're used to Bali's beachy heat — it’s refreshingly cool up here! Though hot springs are nearby (a must for another visit), this time we opted for a cultural detour on the way home — a peaceful way to round out a day of slow travel and scenic beauty. By mid-afternoon, we were back on the road, hearts full and phones packed with memories. Kintamani gave us the perfect blend of nature, family time, and gentle adventure — a must-do for anyone exploring Bali beyond the beach.
