Why Kintamani is the Ultimate Day Trip for Families Visiting Bali
Kintamani is one of those Bali spots that every family should experience at least once. With its cooler mountain air, stunning views over Mt. Batur and the lake, and so many family-friendly activities, it’s a refreshing change from the beachside bustle of the south. ✨ Tips for visiting Kintamani with kids: 1. Pack a jumper – it can be surprisingly chilly in the mornings and evenings. 2. Plan your meals – there are some amazing cafés and warungs with volcano views, but they get busy around lunchtime, so go a little earlier or later. 3. Keep an eye on entry fees – as of September 2025, Kintamani uses an e-ticket system. It costs 50,000 IDR per adult and 30,000 IDR per child. You’ll need to show proof of purchase when entering, so have your receipt handy. 4. Make it a full day – combine your trip with a hot spring soak, a farm visit (strawberries, oranges, onions, cabbages and more!), or even a gentle hike if your kids are up for it. 5. Travel time – from Sanur, Canggu, or Seminyak, allow at least 2–2.5 hours one way. Bring snacks, water, and maybe a playlist or games for the kids in the car. We love Kintamani as a family day trip because it’s so different to the coastal side of Bali. Fresh air, open spaces, and the kids always get a kick out of saying they’ve “visited a volcano!” 🌋 Would your family be up for a mountain adventure, or do you prefer sticking closer to the beach?
