Living in Bali has been one of the most beautiful chapters of my life—and learning Bahasa Indonesia has made it even more meaningful. I’m Mia, originally from Australia, and after a year and seven months in Bali, what started as an adventure has become home for my entire family. 🥰 As we prepare to celebrate Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day 🇮🇩, I’m filled with gratitude—not just for the stunning landscapes and warm weather, but for the people. Balinese and Indonesian communities have welcomed us with open arms, and learning their language has been my way of saying thank you. I recently filmed a short video for my Indonesian class and realized just how far I’ve come! While I’m still far from fluent, every word I learn strengthens my bond with this incredible culture. It’s more than mastering grammar—it’s about connection, respect, and belonging. If you’re moving to or visiting Bali, even just learning a few basic Indonesian phrases can open doors and hearts. Teachers at Better Learn Now (@blnbali) have made it easy and fun, whether you’re here long-term or just for a few weeks. You can even grab a special discount through the Bali Family Finds app! So to my Indonesian friends: terima kasih banyak. Your kindness has made this Aussie mum feel right at home. To Indonesia: Selamat Ulang Tahun ke-80! 🎉 Thank you for giving my family a place to learn, grow, and celebrate together. If you're dreaming of a deeper connection with this magical island, I wholeheartedly recommend starting with the language. Learning Bahasa is one of the best gifts you can give yourself—and the community you’re lucky to be part of. #merdekabelajar #bali #bahasaindonesia #baliwithkids #independenceday
