Meet Oreo 🤍🐶 At least that's what the kids named him 😅 This little beach dog spent the day checking in on us, following us up and down the beach, stopping by for pats, cuddles and the occasional scratch behind the ears before wandering off on his next adventure. By the end of the day he felt like part of the family. Beach dogs in Bali can be a complicated topic. There are parts of Bali where dogs are incredibly well cared for, and other areas where sadly unwanted animals are still abandoned. Many local beaches become unofficial dumping grounds for dogs that nobody wanted. And while that part is heartbreaking, what always amazes me is what happens next. You often find ordinary people stepping up. The local warung owner who keeps bowls of water out. The beach vendor who buys food. The person who pays for vaccinations. The local "dog mum" or "dog dad" who knows every dog by name and keeps an eye on them all. Not because they're paid to. Not because a charity told them to. Just because it's the kind thing to do 🤍 It's one of those beautiful examples of community that you see all over Bali. People looking after animals that aren't technically theirs because they believe they're everyone's responsibility. And while there is still so much work to be done, there are also so many quiet acts of kindness happening every single day. So here's to Oreo and all the people who make sure dogs like him have food, care, love and a place to belong 🐶🤍
