From Coastal Roots to Island Life: Meet the Family Behind Bali Family Finds

It’s been a while since we’ve reintroduced ourselves, and with so many new faces here (hi and welcome! 👋), we thought it was about time… We’re Chad & Mia, originally from the south coast of NSW, but most recently from North Queensland before we sold everything, packed up the caravan with our four kids, and took a chance on something different. A month-long trip to Bali turned into a full-blown love story with this island. One year and a half years later... we’re still here. 🏝️ Our four kids range from 19 to 8. Some are homeschooled, one’s on a gap year or two, and all of them are constantly teaching us as much as we try to teach them. We believe in learning by doing, in finding joy in everyday moments, and in chasing a life that feels like ours, not just the one we were told to live. Mia’s the coffee-loving, book-reading, barefoot explorer and now homeschool mum. Chad’s the music-loving tech nerd who can fix anything, build a website in a day, or end up waist-deep in the koi pond trying to save frog eggs (true story). Together, we run @balifamilyfinds a space built to support families visiting Bali—sharing trusted recommendations, discounts, allergy cards, eSIMS, packing checklist. Supported by our team here on the ground in Bali. Because while this place is paradise, it’s even better when you know where to find the good stuff (and avoid the dodgy loos and overpriced snacks 😂). We’re not “influencers,” just a family trying to live with intention, support local, and leave Bali better than we found it. Whether it’s rescuing a turtle, working on new apps with our kids, or sipping a kopi while filming a room tour—we love this life we’re building, mess and all.
