Hard to believe this was two years ago.
We’d just sold the house (and everything in it), booked a month-long overseas trip for Chad’s 40th, and planned to hit the road to see more of Australia.
But… Bali had other plans for us.
After that month here — just like every trip before it — we didn’t want to go home. We joked, “Stuff it, let’s sell the car and the van and move to Bali.”
And then we actually did.
We spent four months planning it out, gave our eldest time to finish Year 12, sold the van and the car… and swapped it all for six suitcases and one-way tickets.
This was the video that started it all.
The beginning of the wildest, happiest, most unexpected chapter of our lives. 💛🌴

Two years ago, we did something a little wild — and we’ve never looked back.

It all started with Chad’s 40th birthday. We sold our home in Australia, booked a month-long trip to Bali, and planned to travel around Oz in a van afterward. But as soon as we landed in Bali — again — something felt different. Warm breezes, smiling faces, and a pace of life that just felt right. What started as a holiday turned into something much more.

“Stuff it,” we said. “Let’s sell the van and move here.” What began as a joke quickly turned into a spreadsheet, a budget, and four months of planning. We sold the van, the car, and most of what we owned. Our eldest finished Year 12, and then we packed our lives into six suitcases and bought one-way tickets to Bali.

From Aussie life to this Bali bliss — it’s been the most exciting chapter of our lives. Now, instead of traffic and 9-to-5 routines, our days are filled with scooter rides, beach mornings, local nasi goreng, and time spent together as a family. We’ve learned to simplify, slow down, and truly soak in our surroundings.

If you’ve ever dreamt of moving abroad with your family, Bali might just be the perfect place to start. Friendly locals, a strong expat community, and kid-friendly cafes and schools make it more doable than you might think. Yes, there are challenges — but the rewards are endless.

Follow our journey, grab some tips, and maybe even start planning your own Bali escape. Adventure is closer than you think — sometimes just one decision away.
