One unexpected side effect of eating out more in Bali? Our kids have become very comfortable with restaurant life. ๐ We still don't eat out that much, but definitely more than we ever did in Australia, and it's been really lovely watching their confidence grow because of it. They order their own food, practise their manners, ask questions if they're unsure and are learning to speak up for what they actually want. And apparently we've now reached the level where they can flag down the staff and ask for the bill themselves. ๐ Are they perfect at it? Absolutely not. Sometimes the shyness kicks in and suddenly they forget every word they've ever learnt and look at us like, "YOU DO IT." ๐ณ๐ But most of the time, we sit back and let them figure it out. They're learning how to communicate with adults, advocate for themselves, be polite and navigate situations independently. They're little things, but they're life skills. And it's pretty lovely watching that confidence slowly build. ๐ค
