๐ฝ๏ธ OUR COMPLIMENTARY DINNER AT THE HIDEAWAY BALI ๐ดโค๏ธ One of my favourite parts of staying somewhere like The Hideaway Bali is experiencing a little local food and culture too. We were treated to a complimentary dinner and honestly... the smells coming from the kitchen were AMAZING. ๐คค We started with gado-gado, vegetables, tofu and usually egg, all topped with delicious peanut sauce. ๐ฅ๐ฅฌ Then came the difficult choice... ๐ Nasi goreng or ๐ mie goreng We tried both and they were delicious. Nasi goreng is Indonesian fried rice, while mie goreng is stir-fried noodles, both usually cooked with vegetables, egg, kecap manis and different proteins depending on the recipe. Then dessert... ๐ Pisang goreng with ice cream! Fried banana, crispy on the outside and absolutely delicious. ๐๐๐ฆ But my favourite part was chatting with the staff while everything was being prepared and practising my Indonesian. I was asking about the ingredients and learning the Indonesian names while watching the meal come together. Bawang, cabai, sayur, telur... ๐ถ๏ธ๐ฅ๐ And because we travel with a child who has significant food allergies, we also showed the staff our Bali Family Finds allergy card ๐ธ๐๐ผ Fish sauce can sometimes be used in nasi goreng or mie goreng depending on the recipe, so we never assume. The staff were fantastic and took the time to check everything with us. โค๏ธ ๐ฑ Travelling to Bali with food allergies? The Bali Family Finds app is FREE and includes allergy cards in English and Bahasa Indonesia. Choose from our list of common allergies or add your own, then show the card when you're eating out.
