Rainy Season Reality: A Wet Day in Bali Life

July 24, 2025

Great day to be a fish in Bali… not so great for the washing I thought was safe overnight. Rainy season just won’t leave us alone- she had other plans! 🤦‍♀️🌧️

They say it's a great day to be a fish in Bali — and after last night’s unexpected downpour, I can confirm it’s not so great for your laundry left out to dry! Welcome to Bali’s rainy season, where sunshine can suddenly surrender to dramatic, tropical cloudbursts. But don’t let the weather put a damper on your island adventure — there’s still magic to be found, even in the rain.

For families visiting Bali during the wet season (typically November to March), expect warm temperatures paired with daily rain showers — often brief but intense. Mornings can be beautifully sunny, while afternoons bring sudden rainfall. The trick? Embrace the unpredictability.

Indoor activities abound for those caught in a downpour. Explore the Bali Safari and Marine Park or get hands-on with a Balinese cooking class where the whole family can play chef. Many resorts offer kids’ clubs and cultural workshops — from traditional dance to offering-making — perfect for rainy days.

Pack light, breathable clothes, but don’t forget ponchos, quick-dry gear, and waterproof bags (especially useful when heading to markets or taking day trips). And for drying that laundry? Learning the local art of "creative indoor drying” is a rite of passage in rainy Bali life!

Above all, bring your sense of adventure. Rainy season paints the landscape vividly green, fills waterfalls to the brim, and offers stunning photo ops with moody skies and misty mountains. You might get wet, sure — but you’ll walk away with a deeper, more authentic Bali experience that families remember long after the clouds clear.
