Remember those ridiculous glasses I bought a few weeks ago? Well... I'm here to admit that they might actually be one of the best random purchases I've ever made. When they first arrived, Chad laughed so hard I thought he was going to cry. He kept asking me why on earth anyone would need glasses with mirrors in them, and I have to admit, they do look pretty ridiculous. If you walked into our bedroom and saw me wearing them, you'd probably assume I was conducting some sort of secret military operation from under the doona. The funny thing is, I'm still using them almost every night. If you've never seen periscope glasses before, they let you lie completely flat while reading. Instead of propping yourself up with three pillows or ending up with a sore neck from holding your Kindle in the air, you can just lie there comfortably and read. It sounds like such a silly little invention until you've actually tried them. I think I've reached that age where practical purchases genuinely make me happy. Years ago I would've been excited about buying shoes. Now I'm telling complete strangers on the internet about reading glasses with mirrors in them. Life comes at you pretty fast. The best part is watching Chad's opinion slowly change. He still laughs every time he sees me wearing them, but I've caught him picking them up more than once. He hasn't admitted he wants to try them yet, but I know that look. It's the same look he gives every time I've bought something he thought was completely unnecessary, only to discover a few weeks later that it was actually a pretty good idea. I have a feeling I'll be ordering a second pair before the end of the year. Not for me... For Chad.
