We swapped our usual scooter for an electric motorbike from E-Spot this week — and honestly?
It was fun, quiet, and super zippy.
Gliding through Bali traffic without the usual engine noise felt kind of surreal… and way more relaxing.
BUT… here’s what I learned the hard way:
When you decide to “just quickly pop to the shops” on an e-bike, don’t do a full grocery haul.
Let’s just say there’s not a whole lot of storage space for bags — and balancing eggs on your lap is a skill I do not recommend testing. 😂
Would I ride one again? Absolutely.
Would I take it to do a week’s worth of shopping? Never again. Lesson learnt.
You can actually find @espotbali inside the Bali Family Finds app — and if you’ve got a BFF Pass, you’ll score a discount on your ride.

We swapped our usual Bali scooter for an electric motorbike from E-Spot this week — and honestly? Total game changer. It was fun, super quiet, and surprisingly zippy, making the chaos of Bali traffic feel almost peaceful. Gliding past shops and temples without the engine noise felt surreal… and way more relaxing, especially with kids in tow.
But here’s the thing: these little e-bikes are perfect for short trips — not so much for a full-blown grocery mission. I learned that the hard way.
Picture this: me, wobbling down a Canggu shortcut, trying to balance a dozen eggs, bags of fruit, and rogue tempeh on my lap. Not ideal. 😂 The electric motorbike just doesn't have the under-seat storage or hook space a regular scooter might. So unless you’re planning on shopping light, maybe skip the market run.
Would I rent one again? Absolutely. They're a great eco-friendly option and super easy to handle, even for novice riders. But next time, I’ll leave the grocery haul to Grab.
If you’re keen to try one, you can find @espotbali in the Bali Family Finds app — and if you’ve got a BFF Pass, you'll even get a discount. It’s a super convenient option for families looking to zip around in style and cut down on fuel use.
So next time you're planning a Bali adventure with the fam, consider giving an electric ride a go — just maybe not with a full shopping list in hand.
