Embracing Slow Living: Mornings in Bali with Family

There’s something almost magical about the way mornings unfold here. The scent of incense drifts through the air, mingling with the soft curl of wood smoke from nearby kitchens. A slow, warm breeze dances through the open windows, carrying the distant sounds of roosters crowing and a temple bell chiming somewhere in the distance. Gentle Balinese music plays from a speaker next door, blending into the rhythm of the day beginning. I wake to little feet creeping into bed, sleepy voices whispering “Good morning,” and warm snuggles under the sheets. No alarms, no frantic rush—just the slow stretch into another beautiful day. The kettle boils, and soon, a hot coffee is cradled in my hands as I step outside into the early morning sunshine. The kids are stirring, the house slowly coming to life in its own time. I remember what mornings used to be like. The scramble of packing lunches, tying shoelaces, finding missing school hats, loading kids into the car, and sitting in traffic, already running late. The mad dash to work, the quick goodbye kisses, the after-school care pickups, and then coming home only to do it all again the next day. It was fast. It was full. It was life. But this… this is different. Here, we’ve embraced a new rhythm. A slower, softer way of waking. There’s no urgency, just presence. The kids get up when they’re ready, breakfast happens naturally, and the day unfolds without pressure. We’ve stepped away from the chaos and into something that feels… right. Balanced. And I want to keep it this way forever. 💛 #BaliMornings #SlowLiving #FamilyLife #ChadAndMia #BaliWithKids #ExpatLife #HomeschoolLife #IslandVibes #BaliDiaries #MakingMemories
