How We Turned Our Ubud Batik Creations into Lasting Family Keepsakes

After our beautiful morning at the batik class in Ubud, we were left with the question… what do we actually do with these special pieces now? Because let’s be real — they were too meaningful to just fold up and forget, and far too pretty to keep tucked in a drawer. Luckily, here in Sanur we’re spoiled with a local art shop that’s become a bit of a second home for us — especially with homeschool life in full swing. Down the back of the shop is a little framing section (blink and you’ll miss it!) and it’s been so handy for things just like this. We go there at least once a month — from hunting for craft supplies and materials for projects, to grabbing canvas and paint for our eldest who's discovering a real love for art and learning to work with paint. It’s one of those spots that’s quietly become part of our rhythm here, supporting both our creativity and schooling journey. So we took in our batik creations, had them professionally framed, and they turned out better than we imagined. Now they’re protected, celebrated and ready to go up on the wall… if we can figure out how to hang them on concrete without drilling into the whole house. 😂 Still, they’re bringing colour and culture into our space and each one tells a story — of patience, process, and learning something new together. If you're in Sanur and have artworks or homeschool projects you want to display properly, definitely check out your local art supply store — they’re little treasure troves! #BatikArt #FramedWithLove #SanurBali #HomeschoolingInBali #BaliFamilyFinds #CreativeKids #BaliLife #LivingInBali #FamilyAdventures #ChadAndMia #HomeschoolLife #BaliCrafts #BaliFraming #TangibleMemories #ExpatInBali

After a magical morning immersed in a batik-making class in Ubud, we found ourselves wondering: what now? These vibrant, meaningful pieces weren’t just souvenirs—they were little windows into our family’s creative journey, and it didn’t feel right to simply fold them away. Enter our go-to Sanur art shop—the unsung hero of homeschool projects and artsy adventures. If you’ve ever meandered through the streets of Sanur, you might have passed it without noticing the framing nook tucked right at the back. It’s become somewhat of a creative sanctuary for us: stocking up on paints and craft materials, or just fuelling our eldest’s blossoming passion for art. So we brought our batik creations in, fingers crossed, and left them in the capable hands of the framing team. The result? Stunning. Each piece is now beautifully mounted and protected, ready to hang (once we crack the code on decorating concrete walls here in Bali without turning the house into Swiss cheese 😅). What we love most is how these framed batiks have instantly brought warmth, color, and cultural richness into our space. They’re more than just decor—they’re keepsakes of a shared experience, reminding us daily of the joy in slowing down, learning together, and making something with our own hands. If you’re a family traveling through Bali, especially homeschooling or crafting along the way, don’t underestimate your local art supply stores. They’re not just about brushes and paper—they're mini hubs of inspiration and transformation. A simple framing service turned our travel mementos into tangible memories we'll enjoy for years to come. #BatikArt #FramedWithLove #SanurBali #HomeschoolingInBali #CreativeKids #LivingInBali #FamilyAdventures #TangibleMemories
