We have no idea if it’s the same one each time or if we have a whole family of bathroom guests, but they’re definitely making themselves at home.
If you’ve never heard of a Luwak, they’re a type of civet known for their love of coffee cherries (yes, they’re the ones behind the famous Kopi Luwak coffee). But don’t worry, this one seems more interested in late-night exploring than starting a coffee business.

Bali is full of surprises, but we never expected to have a little nighttime visitor! Almost every evening, a curious Luwak sneaks into our bathroom, making itself right at home. We’re not sure if it’s the same one every time or if we’ve unknowingly adopted an entire family, but one thing’s for sure—this furry guest is here to stay!
For those unfamiliar, a Luwak (also known as an Asian palm civet) is best known for its connection to Kopi Luwak, the world’s most expensive coffee. These nocturnal creatures feast on ripe coffee cherries, which ferment in their digestive system before being collected and processed into a gourmet coffee delicacy. But don’t worry—our unexpected guest seems more interested in late-night adventures than coffee production!
