🇮🇩 WE LEFT THE BEACHES BEHIND AND SPENT THE DAY EXPLORING DENPASAR, BALI. When most people picture a Bali holiday, Denpasar probably isn’t the first place that comes to mind. But after spending a day walking through the heart of the city, we were reminded just how much history, culture and everyday life is packed into this part of Bali. We joined a Denpasar Heritage Walk and explored: 🛍️ Pasar Badung, one of Denpasar’s biggest traditional markets, where everyday life is happening across multiple levels. 🏛️ Gajah Mada Street, the historic heart of Denpasar’s old town, with its old buildings and multicultural trading history. 🌊 Tukad Badung and the riverwalk connecting the markets. 🥥 Kumbasari Markets perfect for all of your homewares and souvenirs And so much more along the way. The Gajah Mada Heritage Area was officially designated as a cultural heritage area in 2008 and stretches from Jalan Thamrin towards Catur Muka. The area has long been an important commercial centre, with Chinese, Arab, Indian, Madurese, Javanese and Balinese communities all contributing to its multicultural character. And Pasar Badung itself operates around the clock, with different areas coming alive throughout the day and night. Honestly, this was one of those days where we kept saying, “Why haven’t we explored Denpasar properly before?” If you’re coming to Bali and want to see something beyond the usual tourist spots, put Denpasar on your list. 🎥 We’ve turned the whole day into a daily vlog on our YouTube channel, Chad & Mia. Come with us as we walk through the markets, learn about the history, explore the streets and experience a very different side of Bali. 👉🏼 Head to YouTube and watch the full Denpasar Heritage Walk. And if you’ve never explored Denpasar beyond driving through it… this might convince you to get out of the car. ❤️🇮🇩 #DenpasarBali #Denpasar #BaliIndonesia #BaliTravel #BaliHeritage
