From Warungs to Home-Cooked Feasts: Our Bali Food Journey

From Warungs to Home-Cooked Feasts šŸ½ļøāœØ The first few months in Bali felt like a never-ending foodie adventure—trying every warung, discovering hidden gems, and indulging in the island’s incredible flavours. But after the novelty wore off, we started to crave something different… Mum’s home cooking. With our move to the new villa (and finally having an oven šŸ™Œ), we’ve been cooking at home more than ever, and I think the whole family is loving it. There’s something so comforting about a home-cooked meal, especially when it’s made with fresh local ingredients. Now, we usually eat out just once or twice a week, making those meals out feel even more special! Cooking in Bali is its own adventure—sourcing ingredients from the markets, tweaking recipes to suit what’s available, and experimenting with new flavours. We’ve been making everything from homemade breads to our own versions of Indonesian classics. If you could learn to make one Indonesian dish, what would it be? Nasi Goreng? Beef Rendang? Gado-Gado? Let me know—I might just give it a go! #BaliFoodie #HomeCooking #BaliEats #CookingInBali #FoodLoversFrom

**From Warungs to Home-Cooked Feasts: Our Bali Food Journey** šŸ½ļøāœØ Our first few months in Bali were a whirlwind of flavors—sampling every warung, uncovering hidden foodie gems, and indulging in everything from sizzling satays to fragrant curries. But as the novelty of eating out daily faded, we found ourselves craving something more familiar: home-cooked meals. Moving into our new villa with a proper kitchen (and an oven—finally! šŸ™Œ) changed everything. Now, we’re cooking more than ever, bringing a taste of home to paradise while still using Bali’s vibrant local ingredients. There’s something incredibly special about preparing a meal from scratch, knowing it’s made with care, fresh produce from the local markets, and a hint of our own creativity. Cooking in Bali is an adventure in itself—navigating the morning markets, discovering new spices, and adapting traditional recipes based on what’s available. So far, we’ve made everything from homemade bread to reimagined versions of Indonesian favorites. While we still eat out once or twice a week (because Bali’s food scene is too good to ignore!), those meals now feel even more special. If you could learn to make one Indonesian dish, what would it be? Nasi Goreng? Beef Rendang? Gado-Gado? Let me know—I might just give it a go! #BaliFoodie #HomeCooking #BaliEats #CookingInBali #FoodLovers
