Reclaiming Life: My Personal VSG Journey to Health & Happiness

Getting Vulnerable: My VSG Journey 💙 In 2021, I finally walked into my GP’s office and asked for a referral for VSG surgery (Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy). It wasn’t an easy decision, but it was a long time coming. I had been bigger all my life, addicted to food and dopamine, which—knowing what I know now—was really my undiagnosed ADHD playing a major role. After finishing having our babies and struggling with mental health (especially after our third child), I reached a breaking point. I was tired. Mentally, physically, emotionally. I wanted more for myself, for my kids, for my future. I wanted to lose the weight for good, do the hard mental work, and eventually get off my anti-anxiety and depression meds. I knew it wasn’t just about weight—it was about reclaiming my life. So here are my very personal photos from my VSG journey. Looking back now, I truly feel like this was the catalyst for the biggest turning point in our family’s life. Because here’s the truth: when mums feel better about themselves, we can show up in ways we never have before. Sure, I still get overwhelmed (hello, four kids 😅), but the weight—physically and mentally—is no longer holding me back. And the wildest part? This year marks 4 years post-op and over 50kg down. The energy I used to carry in extra weight is now being spent on making bold moves, chasing dreams, and embracing this beautiful, unpredictable life. And let’s be honest… freeing up all that extra energy just means I have more room for even crazier decisions. 😆 If you’re on your own journey, know that you are not alone. And if you have any questions about VSG or just need someone to chat with, my DMs are always open. 💙 #VSGJourney #WeightLossStory #BariatricLife #FourYearsPostOp #ADHDAwareness #MomLife #MentalHealthMatters #LivingFully

**Reclaiming Life: My Personal VSG Journey to Health & Happiness** In 2021, I finally made the decision that would change my life—I walked into my GP’s office and asked for a referral for Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy (VSG). It wasn’t easy, but it had been a long time coming. I had struggled with my weight for as long as I could remember. Food was my comfort, my escape, but looking back, I now realize my undiagnosed ADHD played a significant role. After having our third child, my mental health hit a breaking point. I was exhausted—physically, emotionally, mentally. I knew something had to change. This journey wasn’t just about weight loss. It was about reclaiming my life—for myself, for my children, for our future. I wanted to shed the weight for good, do the deeper mental work, and eventually step off my anxiety and depression medications. VSG wasn’t a quick fix; it was a tool that helped me find the strength to transform not only my body but my mind as well. Looking back, I can confidently say that this was the catalyst for our biggest family transformation. When we, as mothers, feel better in our own skin, we show up in ways we never imagined possible. And that’s exactly what happened. Fast forward four years, and I’m over 50kg down. The energy I once carried in excess weight now fuels my passions, my adventures, and my ability to say yes to life. From chasing dreams to traveling with my family—Bali, here we come!—I finally feel like I am living fully, unapologetically, and with purpose. If you're on a similar journey or considering VSG, know that you’re not alone. My DMs are always open. 💙 #VSGJourney #WeightLossStory #BariatricLife #ADHDAwareness #MomLife #MentalHealthMatters #LivingFully
