How do you politely evict a crocodile from your pool? 🐊 (Okay, fine, it was a water monitor, but it felt like we were back in North Queensland with a crocodile in our pool! Do they even have crocs in Bali? Either way, our pool officially belongs to this guy now. 💩 What’s the wildest visitor you’ve had in your backyard? Tell me I’m not alone in this! #BaliWildlife #PoolsideAdventures #NotACroc #BaliLife #WildEncounters #AskingForAFriend

Bali is undeniably a paradise of lush greenery, vibrant culture, and... surprise visitors? Picture this: you're soaking in your villa's private pool, basking in tropical bliss when—plot twist—a massive water monitor decides it’s _their_ pool now. Panic? Nope, just another day in Bali. 💩 While the sight of that long, scaly tail gliding effortlessly through the water may give you flashbacks to crocs in Queensland, don’t worry—water monitors are (thankfully) more curious than confrontational. These impressive reptiles, which can grow up to 2 meters long, are common throughout Bali and play an important ecological role by keeping local pest populations in check. That being said, sharing your swim space might not be part of your vacation plans. So, how do you politely evict this uninvited guest? First, stay calm—water monitors usually aren’t aggressive unless provoked. Slowly back away from the pool to avoid startling them. If the lizard doesn’t leave on its own, a gentle nudge (figuratively speaking!) is enough—try using a long pool net or broom handle to encourage them to move toward the garden. Never try to touch or harm them; these creatures are protected by Balinese wildlife laws. Encounters like this are a reminder that Bali isn’t just a haven for humans but also a sanctuary for incredible wildlife. Spotting monkeys in Ubud, majestic birds on the rice terraces, or even a cheeky gecko in your villa is part of the magic that makes Bali unforgettable. Just be ready to share your space and respect their natural habitat. Have a wild story like this from your travels? We’d love to hear it! And if you're planning your Bali trip, add “wildlife encounters” to your list of must-experiences. After all, you never know what unexpected visitor might drop by. 🩎✹
