What It’s Really Like Grocery Shopping in Bali with Kids: Tropical Twists & Familiar Faves
Grocery shopping in Bali? It’s actually a lot like shopping back home in Australia—with just a few tropical twists 🛒🥚🍓 You’ve still got the big staples: trays of eggs (like the one in the pic!) that’ll set you back around $3 AUD for 30—bargain, right? There’s still a dairy section, just like home, although you’ll quickly notice that things like butter, cheese, and milk can be a bit pricier—especially the imported stuff. We’ve definitely become more mindful of what’s made locally vs flown in, because those sneaky price tags can climb fast if you're not paying attention 😅 You’ll find a great fresh fruit and veg section in most stores, with seasonal tropical goodies like snake fruit, mangosteen, and dragonfruit lining the shelves right next to your apples and carrots. And just like in Australia—there are always treats near the checkout to tempt the kids (and adults, let's be honest) as you wait in line. But here’s where it gets a little different—the feminine hygiene aisle. You’ll find plenty of pads, but tampons are much less common, and are sometimes kept behind the counter or tucked away on a low shelf. If you need them, the trick is to ask for them by brand: “Do you have Softex?” It’s basically the Bali version of asking, “Where’s the Libra/Kotex section?” 😂 Most major supermarkets let you pay by card, and you’re good to go. And yes, even though the brands are different and the aircon sometimes a little temperamental, that weekly grocery shop rhythm still feels pretty familiar. So if you're wondering what it's like doing groceries as a family in Bali—it’s just like home… with a bit more humidity, a few less tampons, and way more dragonfruit 🍉🌿 #BaliGroceryLife #BaliWithKids #FamilyGroceries #LivingInBali #ExpatFamily #ChadAndMiaApproved #RealLifeInBali #GroceryDayVibes #BaliTips #TropicalTwists
