Taking Charge of Perimenopause While Living in Bali: My 40-Year-Old Health Reset
Alright ladies, this one’s probably more for you… I’ve recently decided that I am not living life just dealing with the symptoms of perimenopause. Nope. Done. Since I’m turning 40 this year, I figured it was the perfect time to just get everything checked – and I mean everything! I was due for a pap smear, so we threw in an internal ultrasound for good measure, ordered a full panel of bloods (and then some extras, because why not?), and with the possibility of HRT on the horizon I also booked a breast ultrasound. Basically, if there was a test, I signed up for it. And where did I do all this? At the brand new Bali International Hospital in Sanur. I made my appointment online, saw a specialist OBGYN, and honestly felt so good just finally getting my life sorted. Because let’s be real: a mum functioning at 50% capacity is just not good enough for anyone. Now let’s talk about the important stuff – the super cute hospital outfit they gave me. I loved it. Honestly, if they sold it in a boutique I’d probably wear it out. As for my symptoms… I’d been trying to treat all these random, frustrating things individually – fatigue here, brain fog there, and don’t even get me started on the joint pain and weird cycle changes. It wasn’t until I picked up a book by Dr. Mary Claire Haver that all the puzzle pieces started to fit together. Suddenly, it wasn’t just me “going crazy” – it was perimenopause showing up uninvited. So this is me taking charge, getting answers, and hopefully finding a way forward that doesn’t involve feeling like I’m running on empty every day. If you’ve been putting off your check-ups, let this be your sign – just book it! @bali_internationalhospital #BaliFamilyFinds #BaliInternationalHospital #PerimenopauseJourney #WomensHealthMatters #BaliWithKids
